Economic Complexity Policy Workshop

Policy Workshop held at IIAS, University of Ghana

This research which used a novel framework called Economic Complexity Index and Product Space Analytics pointed out specific products that when added to the products that Ghana already exports with comparative advantage can help quicken the pace of structural transformation. The employment potential of these products for young people and women were highlighted at the workshop.

The project is funded by the International Development Research Center (IDRC) of Canada and was undertaken by the International Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) under the auspices of Development Policy Research Unit (DPRU), University of Cape Town. Similar studies were also done in South Africa, Senegal and Kenya.  More details of the Economic Complexity project can be accessed here.
