Professor Imhotep P. Alagidede

Imhotep Paul Alagidede is a metaeconomist at the Nile Valley Multiversity, Professor of Finance at the Simon Diedong Dombo University                                                                 of Business and Integrated Development Studies, and the University of the Witwatersrand. His research and teaching interests transcends                                                  traditional academic boundaries, exploring the possibilities and limits of existential reality. He is a serial entrepreneur, a philanthropist                                                               and policy maker. He is the creator of a multidimensional network of social enterprises such as Resonance and Alignment, Indigenous Foods,                                                   Meta Engineering and Construction Corporation. The research focus of Imhotep is tilted towards a synthesis of the thesis and the antithesis                                                          in all disciplines. His most recent works looks at the role of indigenous technologies for wealth creation, healing, and knowledge accumulation.                                                    He is interested in finding balance between the modern and the ancient systems of knowledge; the known and the unknown dimensions of life;                                                   and the seen and the unseen realms.

Over the past decade, Imhotep has launched transformative social enterprises aimed at bridging the gaps between academia and industry, science                                              and metascience with the Nile Valley Multiversity as the main delivery vehicle. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Gnostic Agritech Limitless, an                                        indigenous agricultural network dedicated to improving knowledge on sustainable food and nutrition from farm to fork; the Executive Director of                                              AREF Consult, a world class consultancy, training and advisory initiative involved in finding balance and real time solutions for public and private                                             sector entities; the Director of Porthologos Press, a 5th World publishing outfit for timeless wisdom expressed in a multiplicity of formats, and                                            publisher of five strategic academic and practitioner journals. Imhotep has consulted widely for the International Growth Centre, The African                                         Development Bank, AFREXIMBANK, the African Centre for Economic Transformation, The United Nations, The World Bank, and national governments                                             of more than 15 countries, with travelling visits to six continents.

Finding outlet for publishing good quality research, and alternative paradigms for honouring research born in Africa has been Imhotep’s pre-occupation                                       in the academic publishing industry. He is the founding Grand Editor of the Journal of Indigenous and Shamanic Studies, Editor-in-Chief of the Ghanaian                              Journal of Economics and, the Journal of Construction and Built Environment, Managing Editor of the Journal of African Political Economy and Development.                                  He sits on the board of the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana as technical advisor, Gracecoms Foundation as chairperson, and Indigenous Arts and                                   Crafts Incorporated as founding president.

Imhotep is a prolific writer, with over 120 scientific and scholarly peer reviewed articles in the top economic and finance journals. He is an accomplished                               mentor and coach, and a 5th world business genius. Imhotep obtained his bachelor’s degree in Economics and History (first class honours) from the                                     Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, and he holds a Master of Science degree in Economics and Finance (with distinction),                             and PhD in Economics from Loughborough University, UK.  He is interested in numerous extracurricular and fun activities, including but not limited to                                    creating new ventures, travelling, swimming, gardening, and exploring the frontiers of human consciousness.
